I have had the same issue when printing discs and found that some brands work better than others.
I can't get the smaller silver mirror finish discs to work at all and ended up punching them out of a sheet of dye sub Ali and they worked well. I'm going to try less heat and pressure next time and see if that helps.

on the bottom left hand corner of the photo, it looks like the plastic is still on the metal?
I press bottom plate, paper,metal, image, top platen 180 for 55 seconds

I agree with Quinsfan. I had the same problem which was resolved by simply placing a sheet of kitchen roll between the subli paper and press/Teflon.
