Another option is waterslide decals.
Admittedly, I have never had much success with water decals and it's been a long while since I last tried, but never ever had any success with them in terms of getting them to stick for anything longer than a day or two.

I've used them to decorate empty wine bottles for my daughter to place LED lights in, and I made an Elvis mug for my wife that we've had for over 20 years. Admittedly, these were purely decorative and never meant to have anything more than a quick handwash, or wipe over with a damp cloth, but they've held up very well. These were inkjet decals (not laser) which you had to spray a clear overcoat on to make them waterproof.

I've used them to decorate empty wine bottles for my daughter to place LED lights in, and I made an Elvis mug for my wife that we've had for over 20 years. Admittedly, these were purely decorative and never meant to have anything more than a quick handwash, or wipe over with a damp cloth, but they've held up very well. Useful to know, I have only used TMT's stuff and having seen their samples I was really impressed and thought there was something in it. However having tried it myself I simply can not get on with it. Probably me being useless though
