And that is the whole point. If you have a long established existing business then platforms like ebay ( or just eat in the example above) are just an added cost that chips away at your profits. Many of us have to use these platforms to retain our existing customers.
If you have a new business that is built around third party platforms then you probably think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Earning 10% is probably satisfactory if the business is trading from home with few additional overheads, but if you run a traditional 'bricks and mortar' business then 10% is too low.
