Well for instance let’s take cosmetics; we have a company that wishes to decorate their mascara compacts the ones with the mirrors in. First they send us samples of their current materials, we then test them in the basic machines by pouring a mold with silicone to support the product and then image it. We review the product after this to check for distortion colour retention or any other parameters the customer requires.

After the initial tests we would then work with the client so that they can blend their product (if it’s plastic) or get it coated (if it needs coating) so that it is fully receptive for sublimation. Once this is agreed we look at production volumes and then work with the client to develop a holding jig that supports the products based on how many they wish to produce (so if it is a cosmetics item you may get 50 in one press you then work to sort the registration and print process (size and speed of printer) You also have to dial in your pressing cycle through the control panel Which includes pressure, pre heat, time temp and then the cool down which is different for many different types of plastic.
