In fact ie frooze my computer right up once, hence i looked for alternatives, not had that problem since ditching ie......................
How long will that hold true, though? Eight years ago, 90% of internet users used Internet Explorer. Today, some figures suggest it's down to 25% or less (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_shar ... b_browsers).Russ;50941 wrote:but if the majority of your potential customers use it then surely you have to take it into account?
Couldn't you just have multiple tabs open in the same browser? After all, if a job's worth doing... oh... :biggrin:WorthDoingRight;50977 wrote:Well who only uses one browser these days? I often have ie 9, chrome, opera, firefox all open at the same time. Why do I do this. I just like to keep my different surfing threads seperate.
The W3Schools stats for this year show Safari & Opera pretty much stable at ~4% & ~2% market share, Chrome increasing its share at the expense of Firefox & IE - but IE is still a major player at 3rd most popular browser. My point being, if you are a 'general user' then use whichever you like best - if you host site(s), then cater for the most popular browsers or lose potential customers...JSR;50965 wrote:How long will that hold true, though? Edit - stumbled across this site: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp - which suggests that Internet Explorer use could be down to as low as 16% now. If true, it's rapidly being relegated to "minority browser" status.
It shows how the world of browsers is changing. It used to be that we'd design websites for IE and then put in tweaks for other browsers. Now it's a case of designing for other browsers and putting in tweaks for IE.Russ;50981 wrote:The W3Schools stats for this year show Safari & Opera pretty much stable at ~4% & ~2% market share, Chrome increasing its share at the expense of Firefox & IE - but IE is still a major player at 3rd most popular browser. I never have less than about 20 tabs open in each of my browsers hence why I use multiple browsers to keep 60 to 80 sites up at a time.
