So..SG.....should I just think about heads only?!? Or really tiny bodies?!? This was me just filling up a blank A4 sheet, so should I go square?!? I LOVE constructive feedback!!

I would say that others are probably better suited to answer that, although everyone I suspect will be different and it also depends on your style.

With SG on the size thing, its probably down to personal taste and customer requirements - but I'd start by taking a template of say 20cm x 9cm (or multiple of) and do your design within those boundaries; a large image can be scaled down, but may degrade if scaled up.

Oh and large heads on small bodies may work :-)

Gayle, I think you should just draw whomever and whatever you want - if the quality is like your Doctor Who caricature then I am sure someone will buy it.

I can just see a line up of the various Dr Who's similar to the 'evolution of man' lineup or maybe a set of James Bonds …
I would like to see how they turned out and what process you used in photoshop please?

Heads on small bodies do work, check out all the cartoon portrait web sites.

Your drawing are very good and i love the teddy ones too, i would also be interested in original art work.

Big heads small bodies and square or landscape sound good,

Think were in a timewarp in this house seems to be Star wars and A team ):

Politicians might be good then we could personalise text with it, in our house that would be a lotta rude words on the mugs.

Royals?

Thanks guys...this is great, Russ...going to start working to smaller dimensions...well atleast, I'll draw big, design small!!

Viccar...thank you.....the teddies aren't for commercial usage, (apart from my own) I only allow small card-making production as I've trademarked them....but I can certainly look at politicians. I would sell a licence for my other work, non-exclusive rights though. Got to be careful obviously with anything that requires a logo to really 'ping' as that's just too dangerous...but certainly politicians and royals I would imagine are good to do. Should I try heads only!??!?

Sorry to hijack the thread Gayle...

Tony (Goldrapt) - fairly simple instructions, obviously with photoshop you can do things many different ways...
Image needs to have some easily identifable edges, because thats what line drawings are...So -
Duplicate Layer
Filter > Stylize > Find Edges
Layer Adjustment - Make the new layer Black&White
Layer Adjustment - Add Levels, adjust middle & white sliders to get desired effect
if you want a darker effect, duplicate the new layer and change the blend mode to 'multiply'

Thanks Russ, appreciate it.
When it comes to photoshop, well the simpler the best where I am concerned :-)
