I would suggest that you forget about buying a cheap setup and seriously consider out sourcing for now until you know the work is there and you can justify the bigger bidge that comes with good quality kit.

Personally we use a Ricoh A3 printer - the inks alone cost almost as much as your budget but its superb but I refuse to skimp on quality as I dont want to be let down. With our embroidery machines again we use the very best industrial 16 colour single head machines money can buy but they beat everything else we've ever seen in action hands down.

I have been looking at the ricoh printer and would love one, do you buy sublimation inks a ciss system? I have went for an a4 pprinter for now to get me up and running and saving up for the rioch printer

We use the SublijetR cartridges in the larger 60ml size only available for the A3. We are looking at large format currently so are considering CISS systems and cartridge based options.

For large format machines, the refill carts are usually 200-300ml each, or a CISS system basically will feed the inks directly from the 1 litre bottles.
