Just can't get colors right.
Re: Just can't get colors right.
InkTec is a good brand of ink, and they do have ICC profiles on their website for a selection of wide format printers and RIPs. However, there are so many possible printers out there, it isn't feasable for InkTec to make profiles for every one - in the same way that Sawgrass don't make profiles for every printer on the market, and just concentrate on a select few.
Whoever advised that you didn't need a profile for InkTec sublimation ink was lying to you. You will need to get a custom one made for you.
Adobe RGB is a colour workspace profile, not a printer profile. If you're using it for your printer, then this suggests that the whole colour management set up for your system is wrong, which could explain why you've had problems for 18 months.

Re: Just can't get colors right.
i have got in touch with Paul to get a profile done.
I do remember getting in touch with sawgrass but I cant remember what they said.
I have the inktec now so will concentrate on that.

Re: Just can't get colors right.
I had the same problem with my print quality for a couple of years and seem to sort it out not knowing how. However, two years ago I started having problems again. I was pointed to www.nativedigital.com. They did me a profile for £15.00. You have to print and press a test print and send it to them, they then email you a new print profile and instructions for installation. My print quality was then the best I'd ever had.
Re: Just can't get colors right.
I ended getting Paul from this group and he did a profile for me. so far so good. the couple of prints I have done have come up well. Then I ran out of sub paper.
Re: Just can't get colors right.
Be careful here as whoever is supplying you inktec inks can only supply this legally into the wide format market. It would appear your supplier is in breach of their licence as you have already said you're using an Epson 7010 printer and either you or your supplier could face legal action as a consequence. Just be careful about what you say/ do in an open forum such as this when Sawgrass are active members on here.chucky;69368 wrote:i have got in touch with Paul to get a profile done.

Re: Just can't get colors right.
I'd be more concerned that someone is a dealer for Inktec, reselling their sublimation ink and telling his customers that they don't need an ICC when they have a printer that InkTec don't have an ICC profile made for.
As a point of note, InkTec's dealers, as far as I know, don't sign any license agreement. Any licensing agreement is between InkTec and Sawgrass themselves.
Also, the supplier in question could have imported the inks from China, bypassing the official supply chain of InkTec, and with rule of first sale, be outside of any licensing restrictions.

Re: Just can't get colors right.
I have a Ricoh GXe3350n that I use for sublimation. I am having similiar colour shifting problems. Previously I had a problem where the blues had a green tinge. After trying many things I corrected it by changing the print driver. The 3350 seems to need a 3300 driver rather than the 3350. The blue reappeared. Now I get a gold colour when printing greys. The grey appears correctly on the screen in Corel 12 (which is what I use). I can duplicate the colour on the screen by adding some yellow to the grey fill in Corel. I have tried many things including installing Sawgrass Powerdrive for a 3300. After resintalling print driver so many times I lost count the green tinge is back along with the gold. This is when printing using the GXe3300 driver as well as the Powerdriver. Interestingly when I use the GXe3350 PCL6 driver, which is loaded when the printer is installed, the colours appear correct. I could use this driver but it is not as good as the recommended driver. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi Rob,
You should really start a new thread, as your problem is a different printer this thread.
But, most likely you are going to need a custom ICC making, but also need to check the colour management is set up correctly in your graphics software.
