Well it has taken five months and two days but the insurance company have finally thrown the towel in and agreed to meet my claim 'without prejudice' which if understand things correctly means that they are paying up but not admitting liability.
A loss adjuster is being sent out next week to assess my car and then either repairs will will be paid for or an offer of settlement made. I really can't see the thing being repaired as the costs would be way beyond the value of the car.
However, all is not rosy in the garden yet as they are trying to get out of paying the storage bill for the car - currently just over £3000 plus vat. Pity they strung the case out for so long - I kept pointing out to them that the storage bill was clocking up.
I get the distinct impression that they thought if they could string it out long enough and keep telling me that they wouldn't pay as it was my own fault and that their client had not been negligent in any way - that I would eventually give in. Some chance!
Be interesting to see what they offer me for the car and how much discount on the storage bill they can negotiate.
