It's never fun having to fork out for new equipment but sometimes it's the only cost-effective way to solve a niggling problem.

Good luck next time!

You're right, it's not worth the headache!

Thanks for wishing me luck!

Out of interest, did you speak to the seller after you bought the printer, I'm assuming it was sold in working condition? I don't recall seeing it in our For Sale section but I appreciate it was a while back.

I did mention that it was banding to him, but that hopefully I would be able to resolve it. Because it was mostly prominent in one area (two noticeable bands) I thought that it would be easy to sort out, but it has been a nightmare. Before I bought it, I did asked if it had any banding issues, and in the description it said it was in perfect working condition. So baffled. The seller had been really nice, he was friendly and had even offered me advice about sublimating. I would feel awkward contacting him a month down the line to tell him that it's still banding and please could I have a refund. Besides which, in my desperation to try everything to fix the problem, I ran a printer flush and head flush, so some of the ink has been used :frown:.

I did the same thing when I started up. Second hand Ricoh for a good price and "perfect working condition". Won't bore you with the details but it obviously had developed a problem and the seller was trying to dump it. Took a couple of weeks and eBay intervention and eventually received 50% of my money back. You need to be a bit hard nosed, no matter how nice the seller is being. It has not worked properly from the outset so get shot while you still have time.

You can't test without using ink and deep flushing will use a lot. Not something the seller should complain about.

You may have to compromise on the actual refund. In my case I could not prove it was not a shipping problem and he could not prove it was working correctly so we split the difference.

Over the last few years I have purchased thousands of items via eBay but there are some things that are just too risky and printers are one of them. Just my opinion of course...

Incidentally I kept an eye out for the printer being advertised again but it never was.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Unfortunately I didn't buy mine on Ebay, it was a private sale paid through paypal. But thankfully the seller has sorted it out for me .

I believe you can still make a dispute case via PayPal.
