Sounds more like we touched the nerve of a supplier because nobody was complaining about printers costing more than £50 just reminiscing. Sorry if that's the case it wasn't intentional. I did mention some suppliers raised the price of the obsolete 3110 model recently, it was an observational post not a complaint as such but as its been said, one needs to make a living, however that maybe, if its using £50 printers or selling them for more or increasing prices.
As been mentioned its consumables where the profits are made, this is why some suppliers can see an advantage in offering printer upgrades for free with a set of sublimation inks everyone is entitled to give an opinion on a forum, usually suppliers offer help not criticism but that's not to say they cant, free speech and all that so no hard feelings here.

Whatever Ricoh produce as a replacement Im sure we will be able to use for sublimation. So we shouldnt worry. Even if we have some ink cartridges for the old model still in stock we can open the new cartridges and swap the ink over.

Anybody know what will replace it?
The Ricoh SG3110 hasn't been discontinued. These are still available in 220/240v UK plug etc. I've just ordered a load from stock!

Are you sure BMS, they aren't discontinued?

There maybe a few with one of the distributors but they definitely aren't in production anymore.

Personally I would suggest going with a supplier to buy inks+printer but printer alone can be found here:

Yes I'm sure. Our supply chain doesn't have a problem (yet) and we will continue to source these as an alternative to the SG400, bundling them with SubliJetR inks.

I would agree. Always go to a SG or Sublisplash supplier. Maybe it cost a few bob more but if you have problems then they will sort you out.
You only have to look on this forum for the posts from members who have tried the shortcut route and the problems they have.

Hi Quinsfan

The SG400 and 800 are not just a re-branded Ricoh, they are manufactured on a different production line to the now discontinued Ricoh. Yes from the outside they look very similar but Sawgrass have made changes in the box:

1. 2 years warranty with Virtuoso.
2. With Virtuoso FOC Creative Studio software included offering unrivalled ease of use with over 3,000 images + clip art and inclusion of complete range of dye sub product templates, perceived software value £2,000.
3. Higher Resolution with Virtuoso 1200x 1200dpi vs 600x 600dpi with Ricoh.
4. Virtuoso faster and higher quality at equivalent Ricoh 600x600dpi setting.
5. Improved dot formation and placement with new XY drive system offers higher quality output with Virtuoso.
6. 26% wider colour gamut, more vibrant blues, reds and deeper blacks with Virtuoso.
7. Virtuoso offers less ink usage than Ricoh due to higher density ink.
8. Virtuoso ink is 5% cheaper SRP than the Ricoh Sublijet R ink.
9. Ricoh no longer have a licence for Mac support, so any Ricoh now sold can only be printed to by a PC platform and not via a Mac.

The SG400/800 are not being discontinued, i hope the above helps.
