Well I use http://www.1and1.co.uk they currently offer £0.99 1st year and £2.99 on other year - normally buy in 2 year periods and renew them.

as a web host i can tell you :)
i have always used 123 reg for yrs but lately their support has been terrible so i have switched to namescheap.
their support is spot on bless em.

don't go for anything else anyone offers you like emails etc it's a total waste of money you get emails with your hosting package, if you don't then switch hosts.

with namecheap they do offer hidden whois for free which if you don't want anyone knowing who owns the domain thats fine but tbh i don't care who knows that i own it.

To be honest why would any one want to hide the id on the whois server, maybe if your a tad shaddy?.........

Thanks all i bought a domain with 123 reg last night but this is all new to me so will see how that goes as i am not even ready to use it yet just wanted to make sure it was secured for when i need it. And i have no idea about that whois you mentioned here was not options on that but it did give me options for just about everything else in the world. cheers

whois is just that.. it tells you 'who is' the domain owner... if you search on a domain name, and it tells you it is already taken, you can usually click on a link to see who owns it. That is whois :-)

Also its a top back link for your sites seo, if your all above board why would you want to hide the details?............
