I'm looking for a few hints and tips, Just got my heat press, i'm so excited, got some polo tops to put a logo on the breast but was wondering on the best way to apply so I dont press on the buttons, do you guys only place the part to be pressed in the edge of the press or is there an easier way.
Adkins beta maxi 38 x 5o swing press.
Cheers

I have the Pressmech heat press with the polo platen, this has a slot cut out for the centre section with buttons to 'fall down into'...sorry that doesn't help!
You can cover the button area with something that will reduced the heat goign through or try padding the print area so that it is raised above the buttons?

"try padding the print area so that it is raised above the buttons?"
I thought about this but wasnt sure what to use, and also thought it would create an uneven pressure!

A piece of 3/16 ply the size of the lower plate with an appropriate cutout for the button area works fine for me. I had to put a teflon sheet over the ply. The teflon lets the shirts slide on the board for positioning and also protects the buttons from heat a bit more, even though they've dropped into the slot.
Actually, I ended up stapling the teflon in place because tape and glue just don;t seem to hold it

I shot the staples into the edge in a few places. It didn't need many. And going in through the edges avoids having to find really short staples so they don;t stick through.
