First of all find out exactly what type of "plastic" it is. You mught get lucky and find it's already receptive to sublimation.
Assuming it's not - You can get coatings: https://www.megauk.com/sublimation/subl ... atings.php But I I've no idea how effective they are - Haven't tried them.

But you would also need to know the melting point of the plastic doesn't exceed the temperature you need to sublimate.
Also - If it's a food-related item you/he may need to send some samples to a lab and ensure there is no chemical leeching during normal use (dishwasher etc) - I may be over-cautious here but I come from a manufacturing background where we printed onto baby food products.

Please let me know how you get on as it's something I'm really interested in.
I would love to print an item I have in mind but the melting point is 80c and (at the moment) as far as I know there is no way to sublimate at that temperature.

Cheers,
John.

thank john for the reply i will let you know ,i had a look on that website ,seems cheap enough to try ,the thing he wants coated is an electronic cigerette so no worries of it leaching in to a food product ,it seems cheap enough to try it
