Hi all,

I am new to the mug press and I have put everything together, put the dye ink in my epson printer, printed the picture required onto sublim paper, set the temp and time, popped the mug in the press, once the time has run down take the mug out and nada, nothing on the mug what so ever.

I have tried both sides of the paper, even wwent to asda and bought a blank mug to see if the mugs i bought were wrong but still nothing in the mug.

does anyone have any suggestions please??

Thanks :)

Are they sublimation mugs? What Ink are you using? Have you got an ICC profile for the inks? What paper are you using?
So many variants. If you look through the forum you will find most of your questions answered. Without the full picture of your equipment it is difficult to answer.

Mugs from Asda won't work as they need to be sublimation coated. As above, give us more info..... Starting with your mugs :-)

Hi,

Yes they are sublimation mugs, im sorry I have no idea what icc profile is :/ When I purchased the epson printer i purchased the empty ink containers and the ink is called jetplay ink from the same supplier. sublimation paper was purchased from signzworld and it states it was the best match paper for the epson printers and for mug printing. my mug press is from coralgraph
Thanks

Asda are selling blank sublimation mugs? That's a new one! They sell printed photo products so I can't see that at all. Forgive me but are you sure? Even with poor quality paper you should be getting something. I'm also not aware of any brand of ink by that name. You're certainly giving yourself an uphill struggle with this route I'm afraid :-) But we'll do our best to help of course!

Yes I went to asda and asked the department if I could purchase 2 of their blank mugs although she looked at me strange she did sell me 2 with no problem. What ink would you suggest I purchase? im happy to pay for whatever ink is needed. I have followed every instruction I was given but I cant see where I have gone wrong and why it wont press to the mug. The mugs i got from asda have orca coatings on them.

Well that is a first! No wonder she looked at you funny! lol. What price did they charge you? I'm surprised they had any blank ones there as everything would be printed elsewhere, not in store, very strange. Orca is certainly sublimation coated :-)

Sawgrass have a stranglehold, although this is under question right now. In theory this means that you have to buy their inks at inflated prices for use in a small format printer. The Ricoh printers are very good, certainly for a new start such as yourself. Listawood and Xpres are good starting points to look at these machines and you can buy with the subli ink carts as a package. Joining our Premium Membership for £10 per year gives you access to some great discounts, 10% off everything at Listawood for a start so you get your £10 back and more besides ;-) 10% off decent mugs at both suppliers as well will start you on the right road.

Which printer are you currently using?

Loads of info already on the forum and as we always say, have a good read through and you'll find many questions already answered. Similar threads are shown at the top of your own thread for direct reference. Of course, we're happy to help though :-)
