I know that ceramic money boxes have been discussed a few times before, but I didn't see my particular enquiry in any of them.

Im using my standard 11 oz mug press to press 11 oz money boxes. Im not getting any cracks or breakages. Im began using the same settings for money boxes as I do for mugs. my mugs turn out nicely, vibrant, true colours, no paper sticking, all good.

My images on my money boxes however look very weak in comparison, ive upped the temp, time & even pressure. but no no avail. they are still weak / faded images compared to my mugs.

I get my mugs & money boxes from the same supplier. (signzworld, at the mo) and find te lugs really good quality with no imperfections, as opposed to others that ive had, With money boxes however, I have nothing to compare them to. They are ok at first glance, no imperfections etc.

Could it be a weak coating? not thick enough?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They're awful compared to mugs. I'm finally getting acceptable money boxes, I preheat both ends for at least 30 seconds. Firm pressure but not too much as paper wrinkles. I press for 180 secs turn 180 degrees and press again for all round print.

Thanks for that,. How do you warm each end of the money box?

I pre warm them out of the box as a mater of course, usually in front of my fan heater, I do the same with cold mugs.

I have tried pre heating the mug in the press, But not considered the ends?

I just put the outer inch of the box in the press and close it. I left one in and it really heated up but printed great!

Standard method for many here to warm mugs etc is with something like this

There are larger sizes available. The above holds 10 or 12 mugs. Set to almost the lowest temp it can do it warms mugs a treat.

if I'm pre-heating mug bases I sit them on my hot press for a few minutes but I find the money boxes need a lot more heat in them.

I have done a few money boxes and the main thing I find is good firm pressure at 178 temp for 3 mins but you do have to have an imaginary handle where this part is at the top and no image there as the heat press won't heat it. I also tape the whole edge on both sides.
Mine were from BMS but the mugs are signzworld.
