The balmoral bone china mug for us sells very well (we sell mainly to gift shops rather than personalised prints) and recently we have been trying out the orca version.

We find certain designs suit durham (10oz) and other designs suit the balmoral bone china shape and to keep things simple we only offer these two styles to retailers.

So, balmoral printing can be a slight issue as there is a taper at the bottom but depending on the design you can press top to bottom on these. We find any solid colours do not work very well top to bottom but busy artwork (with hard pressure on the press) actually works perfectly.

Normally we buy from Coral Graph whose prices are excellent (around £1.24 with DSF discount when they have items in stock mind!) but they have had a recent delivery of these in. We are unsure of the coating but it seems "good":

When Coral Graph ran out of stock last time we bought the same style of mug but Orca coated (and Orca stamped on the bottom) from subli.co.uk which are £2 each (quite a jump).

The Orca coating is excellent and colours are A LOT more vibrant but of course it depends on your artwork and your profit margins.

Printer Owners (BMS) have been out of stock of balmoral for months but I was told by Scott that they are expecting some in the next week. These "could be" the same as Coral Graph (as not RN coated) and work out about the same price as Coral Graph without the DSF discount.

So conclusion is that the balmoral bone china mug is a super shape and if margin is tight and artwork not too vibrant then go for non-orca. If you want the best then of course Orca is the way to go.
