Ok, so I've been really busy with orders but are struggling to fulfill them. I've been looking at different ways to reduce the making time. I've been looking into cutters and have a question?
Is there a vinyl cutter out there that will not only cut the vinyl for weeding but will also cut the excess vinyl sheet off for you around each word etc? In other words, I want a cutter that cuts out a word twice, one creating the vinyl to press and the other one slightly larger than the word but in the same shape which will cut through the entire vinyl sheet. I hope this makes sense.....
Thanks

in your cutter programme there should be a setting for "weed all" and "easy weed" weed all, puts a box around your slogan, then once you have cut them, you pull this away, looks a bit like a frame, then it is much easier to cut them, easy weed, puts in extra cuts on your design, so you can pull the excess off easier.

I cannot understand why they are taking you a long time to weed, you can be quite tough on your pulling of the vinyl, i never use a weeding tool, as they take longer to master than to hand weed. I also find cutting a row of designs then slitting them into singles is the easiest, and using the "weed all" I know where to cut them. Roll the cut design over your fingers, this will loosen the middle of the letters with middles, and make it a lot quicker.

Mrs Maggot's answer is the best way to do it, however, all cutters will allow you to cut as many times as you like, using different speeds and pressures.

So, to answer your question : you can offset the outline of your design in the software then 'kiss-cut' the main design followed by a cut with more pressure to cut out the outline. Depending on the software used, you can achieve this either by having the two cuts a different colour and 'cutting by colour,' or separating the cuts onto different layers and hiding the layer you don't want to cut.

I've still got a lot to learn!!

The whole process is taking me a long time, I'm just trying to find ways of reducing it.

your blade will suffer if you use it to cut the base deeper as it is much harder than the actual vinyl layer

Thanks for all your advice.

Can anyone recommend a vinyl cutter which is a step up from the silhouette cameo 3? I also trying to create some intricate stickers but it is struggling to do this.
Thanks

My Silver Bullet cuts through no problem. It will easily cut similar materials for stencils etc. I cut virtually every day and have only bought a new blade twice in two years.

Did you ever end up upgrading your vinyl cutter Coops? As I'm looking at upgrading from a Cameo because I'm having the same issues and I was wondering if/what you chose.

ive used a silouette cameo for about 4 years, never had a problem and it cuts everything i need for clothing, i love the software and would struggle to use anything else, so it looks like the cameo 3 is next on my list. now if they only did a 24" cutter it would be the dogz.....

I've not upgraded as of yet. As my budget is fairly small I'm still trying to look for a budget cutter. I've seen a few and have been reading reviews on them, it's just taking the gamble on it. One of these I found is sold through Amazon, I was thinking of taking a chance and getting it & if it's poo I could be cheeky and return it.
