Hi All,
A quick question on the Xpres 5013 mugs which seem to be a popular choice.
I have just got some of these in to try and until now I have printed and pressed to a circumference of 210 mm. However, just reading the Xpress website again it says the print area is 180 mm.
The mug looks like it will take a longer print - can you reveal what measurements you are using please?

I usually use 210mmx90mm.
Won’t go far wrong with that.

I use LW 11oz mugs and cut my wraps to 235 x 95 mm so that the cover the full height of the mug and nearly touch the handle. For 10oz mugs I cut slightly smaller in width but they still come up close to the handle.

180mm would be the safe area to print. It depends on your printing method, if you are using a mug press or oven. Not all mug presses print close enough to the handle.

Depends what you're printing with, a normal mug press I would use 200mm x 85mm as the template. If I'm using the oven I can get within 5mm of the handle and a full top to bottom so measurements are more.

I find that making the wrap the full height of the mugs helps a lot with aligning designs that have a solid background rectangle, or text near the top and bottom that needs to be exactly horizontal. I think nothing looks worse than a print that is slightly misaligned (a bit like car number plates that aren't on straight, that annoys me too!

). Having the wrap this size means I can just place my mug on the table and wrap it with the bottom of the wrap touching the table surface and everything is exactly horizontal to the base of the mug.

Thanks for the replies. I printed at 210 x 90 and it works fine.
Was just not sure why the website said the printable width was 180 as that seemed to be a largish gap from the handle and wondered if I was missing something like the area actually coated, but assume they are actually coated all over so that did not really seem logical.
Thanks again only slight issue now is that red does not seem to be quite as deep as on other makers mugs. Not sure if that is my imagination or a new gremlin with the print. Epson 1500W with City Express inks and correct profile in Illustrator. Not unacceptable colours but not quite as dark a red as I would like. Darkening the colour in Illy doesn't seem to make the difference.

Use Adobe 98 workspace and make sure you have a custom ICC profile for your reds
