Hi

I've seen a member's message saying the Sawgrass SG400 "counter can be reset" and that they continued to use their printer, please could someone advise how to do this on an SG800?
My printer is 2 years old and has only been used a handful of times, now I've decided to get "a round tuit" and print some T-shirts it's refusing to co-operate with a "replace waste collection unit" message. It's been left switched on (as advised) so has run it's own maintenance thingies judging by the whizzing noises, but surely it's not filled a wast tank just doing that?

I'm suspecting the message is just a money earner triggered by it's software and based on my date of registration

Google reset for a Ricoh 3100 and I think it will be the same.

It could still be full as the machine does routine cleans. You can reset it it, but my advice would be to replace it sometime soon.

If it's anything like large format Epsons, then if you can reset the chip, you should also be able to empty out the waste ink too - otherwise it will eventually overflow - our Epson waste tanks can hold 2 loads of ink from being reset before they overflow - we just pour the waste ink away and rinse out with hot water, then reset the chips.

The printer will do a maintenance check every day if left switched on. Despite only using a small amount of ink each time it is sufficient to fill the waste tank, only worth resetting the tank if you really need to keep printing for a short while. Next time I will replace the tank as soon as the warning appears !.

Thanks for all the advice, I've found a cheaper waste tank on eBay, can't believe it's full just from maintenance actions, this one unfortunately can't be emptied without cutting open and supergluing back together, so it's a replacement job I can't see any way of resetting this to do any prints, it's responding only with the same message

Thanks Webtrekker, I've found that video, but I can't get the menu screen up which is where she says you need to start, my message stays there despite pushing the up arrow as shown. Worth watching for Vicky's accent :-)
