Hello everyone! Hope you're having a lovely day. So I purchased a twin freesub mug press in november and upon getting it and trying it out noticed immediately it had an overpowering fish like smell before even putting any mugs into it ... so ofcourse i contacted who i bought it off and the company explained it would go away after pressing a few mugs. Roll on to july and it's still producing the fishy smell not as strongly but I have to use the press outside as even with ventilation in my workspace its enough to make you feel a bit sick even my family can't stand it. If I rented a studio elsewhere I'd probably be a bit apprehensive about using it whilst it lets off the smells it does because of it filtering into other spaces and I'm sure its not good for you.

Many have said you need to burn off the elements due to residues from manufacture which I perfectly understand but wondered if anyone else has had this experience? I asked a friend who has this mug press to and she had no problems what so ever with any kind of smell like mine and found it very strange. The place I purchased it from has said they've had 0 complaints about this kind of experience having sold "thousands" of the mug press across the uk but have kindly offered to have it back to examine it.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or is it just me and my mug press?

Many thank Katie

I'd be tempted to open it up to see what is causing the smell, as the press should not smell like that, so I'm inclined to think there is something (that used to be living, and possibly of fishy origins) inside it!

The heat blanket on that press does stink. I returned mine because they're not the best of presses.

Send it back, they cod look at it.

Mine stinks when it first heats up.
Mug press blanket is the issue but it’s only a smell it doesn’t affect the outcome.

Also my flat tshirt press is a lot worse and it comes from the silicon pad if I pick it up and smell it it always has a fishy smell even when cold.
it doesn’t transfer to the product being pressed either so I just live with it.
