Hello all ! I’ve expanded a little and bought a small swing away heat press, a cheap one , nothing fancy . So far I’ve sublimated some slates, came out perfectly, so over the moon as when I first started out on this journey, Mugs were almost the death of me!!
heres my problem I also bought mdf cork back coasters (with no plastic film on )and small cotton make up bags and I cannot get the pictures to sublimate properly. I’m using the same printer and papers , pressing for longer than was recommended after it didn’t work first time, put the temperature up , still didn’t work , increased the time, still didn’t work .
supplier just replied saying they think I’m using the wrong side of the paper!!!
is there any hints and tips for pressing?
many thanks!

I would have asked the same question as the supplier! Are you absolutely sure you are printing on the correct side?

Oh I’m sorry they are linen and suitable for sublimation according to the website there’s even a video showing you how to do them,65 seconds at 180c but I’ve only tried them once.
For the coasters I’ve tried 85seconds at 170c as recommended on their site, ive also tried 180c for the same time and 190c for the same time. On medium pressure .

190 for wooden coasters for me. 60sec.
lick your fingers and grab the page. more sticky side is the one you want to print on

good evening, after much frustration, asked a fellow sublimator (made up word alert) for some advice and he asked if I was using sublimation paper inks etc, I nearly exploded with frustration! I've been making mugs for years why would I change my inks to make coasters? anyways.... after watching a few tutorials again and again tonight.....I wasn't using the wrong side of the paper as was suggested more than once , however I was putting the coaster in face down on the press!!!! If I didn't laugh I would cry !!
Thanks again for everyone's input, thought you all deserved a giggle !

Lol I maybe dumb but not that dumb. Cork side would be facing up though and the printing side facing down
