eBay are forcing sellers out of PayPal and refusing to process payments unless you give your bank account details.
I don't personally understand why this is happening..I am very happy with PayPal and I feel that being forced to make the choice against my personal choice.

Yeah ignore it.
I did and nothings changed for me. (Yet)
I don’t sell much on eBay now due to the muppets and charges.
Have you tried Etsy?

I wish I could . They've withheld payments until I change my payment details.
I think I will have to look into other options for selling. I'm not happy that they want to control my payment options. Peed off as I use PayPal my buy and sell account.

My daughter has had to do the same but it's not a great problem. She gets regular payments from ebay each week and they are always spot-on.
If you sell a lot through ebay it's no good cutting your nose off to spite your face. Just chill out and go with the flow for a while to see how it pans out.

Its because ebay sold Paypal a few years ago as part of a strategy to appease its biggest shareholders. So the contract expired last year and ebay decided to set up their own payments system through the company that deals with etsy payments - Ayden I think. It also is a way for ebay to make more money as as part of the deal between ebay and Ayden, ebay took a large chunk of shares in Ayden giving it an almost controlling interest.
So its a cash cow for ebay as they used to have PayPal but they sold that, now they have Ayden which can access more payment systems like Apple Pay, Direct Card payments etc.

Does ebay offer the same seller protection as PayPal did?

All that's happening is that ebay are acting as the middle-man, so customers still pay by PayPal into ebay's PayPal account, not yours, and pay you at your requested intervals. So PayPal is still handling the transaction and I would assume their protection still applies (albeit via ebay).
My daughter has had no problems with this since it began and she sells thousands of items a month through ebay.

If we move back to selling on ebay can we just specify people use PayPal as too many issues not to have seller protection?

Ps: it also means we can continue to pay off Paypal merchant credit

What put me off switching.
If you have an issue with a buyer and eBay have to step in to resolve there is a charge of £14 admin fee non returnable payable by the seller.
Well that would be most sellers bankrupt.
I read that in a small print that was sent to me by eBay forcing me to change.
