has anyone tried embroidering the fronts of caps?

i done a sub transfer but it looked horrid so i was thinking about trying embroidery as i have a few ppl interesting in text on them

Yes have done quite a few hundred caps, front and sides as well.

For caps that are just text I use Flock and then press onto cap.

WOW you`ve got an embroidering machine on your boat no wonder you no room for anything else. I thought these machines were [COLOR="black]BIG[/COLOR]

no its no bigger than a normal machine
just have various attachments that add to it to embroider

its a brill machine tho

If you have many orders for caps, it might be worth getting a small vinyl cutter (you could get one from ebay fairly cheap) and decorating them with vinyl. I assume you have a cap press for getting the sublimation prints onto them? If your embroidery machine hoop only caters for the front you can apply vinyl all over so it gives you more options for locations.

i couldn't actually get the cap in the hoop at all lol
i gave up and sold them in the end

cap frames can be somewhat limited in design size and you will find designs will only go up to 50mm or so in height (depending on the frame) also if you are trying to flat frame a cap, again depending on the design etc you will find it the embroidery is positioned too high on the cap..

also you will have to digitize the design 'for caps' meaning working centre out where possible..
