Hi all,

I'm a complete newbie to all this and my aim is to print black text on the fluorescent Oracal 6510 vinyl for outdoor use. I need to achieve this as cheaply as possibly. From my limited research up to this point, would this be possible by using a cheapish Epson EcoTank with eco-solvent ink? If so, what kind of results would it give?

Thanks

You can’t print ecosolvent ink with an ecotank. (At least not as far as I know)
you will need a ecosolvent printer like a Roland or similar.

If you plan on using it outdoors long term you will also need to laminate the print.

Hi mate, thanks for taking time out to reply. There's quite a few videos on YouTube where they convert the EcoTank just by using eco-solvent ink (this does void the warranty though)

As for the life of the print, I'm only looking for 18-24 months.

Well There you go I never knew that.
I wouldn’t say that’s ecosolvent printing the product videos look awful.

18-24 months is what I would call long term so laminating would need to be done.

From what I understand printheads don't last very long when you convert a small Epson to eco solvent. It is possible to do but the heads are designed for water based inks.

I wouldn’t fancy changing an epson printhead.
Are they even removable?

canon are great just remove inks and lift the bar and out it pops.
I have rescued a few canon heads by soaking them in ipa.

Thanks for the replies again. If this doesn't seem great option then what would be a good way of doing it do you think. I don't mind spending a few hundred pounds. All I want to do is print on something say 130mm squares and it last 18 months or so outdoors
