Issues with print smdge on durham mugs

Hi, hope you're well. When I print durham mugs I often get smudges at the top - only happens with Durhams. Any ideas how to stop this? I have tried with the paper a few mm's shorter than the mug and also a few mm's longer than the mug. Made on a mug press.

Is the mug press pinching the paper in any way and causing a crease?

Is the press blanket completely smooth without wrinkles?

Try easing up on the pressure a bit; sometimes it’s just pressing too hard at the top, causing ink to smudge
