As above, paypal over the internet - it may not be the cheapest but it's easy to use. If you are taking lots of payments over the phone then paypal may not suit you due to price - you'd have to get a merchant account.

I have a cardnet machine which I got through my bank, costs £12pm. Ideal for taking payments when order is placed over the phone.

Is there a % on each transaction - if not that sounds really cheap

2.3% on credit card payments and 49p for visa etc. I charge 50p if sale is less than £10 and on credit card payments its upto you what you charge the customer. ideal since most people pay by card nowadays.
