Hi everyone

Has anybody used the perspex jigsaw presentation covers from BMS http://www.printerowners.co.uk/sublimat ... -cover.htm ?

I'm using them to display the 96pc wooden jigsaws, also from BMS http://www.printerowners.co.uk/sublimat ... igsaws.htm

When I put the printed jigsaw into the presentation cover, close the fixings at the back and try to stand it up (for example, onto a plate stand) there is so much static electricity in the presentation cover that loads of the pieces get lifted out and stuck to the perspex.

I've packed and extra couple of pieces of card behind the jigsaw to make the whole thing tighter, but the problem is still there....

Any ideas?

Cheers
Barry

Before these ones came alone, jigsaw display cases were cardboard with a transparent window - which were easier to manage. The all-Perspex ones are fingerprint/dust magnets. They're also thicker than the jigsaws they're designed for (the old cardboard ones would close flat, which helped) so keeping the jigsaw together is an exercise in frustration.

I don't know that there's an alternative, though, so we have to put up with it. Putting in extra layers of cardboard is probably the best solution (although ironically, because the case is transparent all around, it then doesn't look as good as it would if it just fit the jigsaw properly or if the back was hidden like it was with the cardboard display boxes).

I guess it's cheaper to makes them out of one piece with score-marks for folding as opposed to the old properly-folded cardboard with transparent window stuck to it. It always comes down to cost.

Wipe the plastic covers with the anti cling sheets that go in the Clothes dryer, this will remove the static electricity.

Jack.

If that doesn't work.. look in a local craft store for an anti static bag.. or fill an old foot of a clean pair of tights with cornflour ;) and wipe across.
