OK this may make a few veteran members laugh but ..

I got my Cameo Plotter today (BMS top service as usual) and with it i ordered a few samples of flex (Nylo & Cotton) Now as im a newbie to all this the sheets all came in the same package and unmarked so im unsure on a couple of things

1. Im guessing the Nylo is the one with the lined backing so im guessing that the lined side is the carrier side ?
2. The cotton flex i ordered is more confusing for me as both sides are black and on the white both are white , how do i tell which side is the carrier (I cant quite tell) ive noticed one side seems slighty more matted but im at a newbie loss.
3. I also brought a printable vinyl sample to play with again which side do i print on ?

Again i know these are really simple questions and risk looking a tad thick but i really need some help please.

No stupid questions, only stupid answers! The Nylo is the stuff with the diagonal hatching on it. To determine which side is the carrier on the Cotton Flex simply scrape a little bit of your sheet in the corner with your weeder. If it doesn't really scratch, that's the carrier side, if you pull up a little material then you know that's the side you need to cut. Good luck!

I did - now i remember to cut the matt side

Great evening getting to know my new cameo cutter toy , was worried at first as vinyl kept moving around messing up then realised I had to move rollers (really should read the instructions better)
But generally happy with first few test play results ..

Been playing with Cotton flex only has one problem on bottom of one image didn't stick even unsure why , but in a nutshell 8 hours in and happy lot to learn but I'll get there

I'd increase the pressure a little on your press or move the design to the centre of the press for even pressure. This might be why.
Remove when cool, not warm as removing warm might peal the edges. I tend to repeat press after pealing off the carrier sheet - just lay it in the press again, cover with a sheet of telfon/silicon and press for 5-10 seconds to ensure it is perfectly adhered.

Keep us up to date with your new cameo - i,m buying mine from martin(BMS) end of this month - would be nice to hear proper first hand experiences with the machine

Its amazing mate , worth every penny.

Had it up and running out the box within 10 minutes, Made a few mistakes which were user not machine based but its really that simple my 14 year old son can use it effortlessly.
Only problem i had was i found the sticky mat too sticky but after 3 or 4 uses it works perfect. We were using a 180g cardstock and it stuck and teared on removeing but that only happened twice.

We are cutting Nylo Vinyl perfectly clean cuts and also card A4 paper we also tried but the sticky mat tore the sheets but im sure that would be fine now.

Ive got 3 tips to hopefully help you not make the mistakes a newbie like me did when using it .

1. Remember to set the rollers on the cameo to the specified width required , the software actually tells you were to place them on screen (i missed that one messed up cut 1)
2. Remembe to reverse image if cutting to print vinyl , Obviously this only counts i think if your printing i dont think you need to for vinyl stickers (messed up cut 5 like that)
3. Check you have the cutter set to the correct setting , Apparently (i didnt own one) the Robo had color tips , The cameo only as one blade and works on settings

Also if your cutting heat press Vinyl its worth taking down the thickness setting and speed by 2 on each as it did for me cut through the carrier backing a few times , I think the cameo auto setting is 18 thickness & 8 speed , i found 16 & 6 work perfectly for me worth making a note just in case you have the same problem.

Over all ive cut and printed 12 tshirts (its just a hobby) and only messed up 2 both self errors (peeling carrier while still hot etc..)
