Im looking at putting some vinyl logo's on a few Polo's for someone , Ive seen online a few videos that suggest raising the area slightly to get a clean press due to buttons and seems .. what would you guys suggest ? are there any cheap alternatives or do i have to purchase a special block of some sorts.

Cheers guys
Lee

lee if its going on the front chest, put the garment over to the left so the button edge runs down the side of the press - not under the press, then if you print on the back open the garment up and feed the back onto the press upsidedown so the collar is infront of you that way the buttons are never anywhere near the press.

if you ever need to raise an area, another t shirt is fine folded at the body end, so the neck is not under the press - otherwise you will get another uneaven surface

I keep a spare sublimation mouse mat close to my press to help raise items by about 6mm for pressing and as a compressible surface when sublimating onto say tiles where I want the paper to wrap around the edges a bit. So if you cannot as Laura suggests get the buttons out of the way then perhaps you can raise the section of the shirt you are pressing above the height of the buttons.

I use various sized cuts of mousemats just to raise the area of the logo I'm doing. Also agree with keeping the buttons over the side of the press just to make sure.

Have to say that I have heat pressed thousands of button/zip garments in my 10+ years in the business. As it is not really my main field of business I have never looked at ways of improving the pressing of things like polo shirts. I always figured hey ho, thats the way it is and there is nothing I can do about it.

Have just had to press a kids full zip hoodie for a mate.

Tried the above tip and the end result is fantastic.

This is why I love this forum :-)
