My name's Russ and I want to be a Subliminator...

...thats the Subliminators Anonymous intro over; a more detailed one follows...

Hello!
I'm Russ from Heanor, near Derby (anyone nearby?), and I've been thinking for a while about getting into mug-pressing as a home-based business, alongside a full-time job.
Also still trying to convince "her indoors" that spending a few hundred hard-earned pounds would eventually be recouped.. not exactly Del Boy's "this time next year, we'll be millionaires", but to be honest if it initialy made some holiday spends I'd be happy.

I call myself a photographer, but as I dont market anything, thats probably reduced to an 'entusiastic amateur' - I believe I'm skilled enough in Photoshop & Lightroom to produce work that would sell on mugs, if not someone's wall!

I first got interested in the mug stuff when I went to Focus - photographic trade show - at the NEC, and met a couple of businesses selling the kit - Merlin Transfers & Novachrome. Both companies virtually promised printed mugs will "sell all day long". True/false?
Since then, I've found other suppliers and this forum, still without taking the plunge (and watched loads of Conde's Youtube videos).

Off to post the obligatory "Which printer?" "which press?" "which starter package?" questions now  .. cya later!

Hi Russ and welcome to the forum :)

Yes mugs do sell, but you have to get your product to market with the right picture in it. That said just about anything will sell with the right picture on it. Best of luck in your research, but please do this. Without a clear view if what your going to sell, with what type if images then your holiday money may be a while coming and a hobby might instead grow!

As RogerC mentions we have a range of startup kits. Happy to talk/ answer queries, but before you take the plunge do some research as no-one wants you investing good money in a large paperweight. ;)

Well I'm still at the playing stage here, but am very impressed with the results so far. Welcome and enjoy learn and maybe get frustrated by it at times. But I feel its all very worthwhile.

Thanks for all the 'welcomes' - I'm still doing a bit of research into chosen markets, before deciding one way or t'other...

Cheers
