Hi guys, I've been offered to do a job for a local supplier who has taken on a big contract, he will supply items and vinyl etc but he has asked if I would cut weed and press. Now I'm talking 20k items. (Bags) what price would you do them at?
20,000 items is a lot to do in my spare time, if I was doing about 4hours work a eve how long do you think it would take me? Would you do something like this fir 25p a item which would work out about £5k with no materials for me other than the work,
I am just interested on people's thoughts, would you take this on? Etc

First have you tried their vinyl and bags? pressed one? seen how long it would take ect.
If they were supplying their own vinyl thats what id be looking at first.

+ electric

20 per hour give 3 mins each to cut, weed and press = £5 hr - electric
20,000/20=1000 hrs/4=250 days

or have i got that totaly wrong.

This a very valid point, maybe you could ask for one to do for free and test the quality. It will also give you a idea of how long it will take, and is the job worth it. he's already price the job but sub contract out. That amount subcontracted would give me cause to think twice about considering to do it, with out more information.

Why would you want vinyl rather than screen print? If there is a good reason then this isn't a part time/1person run. More info needed really to give realistic price

what is the design, some can be easy peasy, others a total nightmare.
Do a sample run of 100.
i think they should screen print.
Me ? - I won't do a pressing for less than £2 - and usually more.
25p you have got to be joking, AVOID !
Why don't they do it themselves?

You need to know how quickly they need the job doing
And then this will let you know if you need to take on extra staff to fulfill the order.

25p each is taking the p**s mate a job of that size really needs to be screen printed. Heat pressing that many items will melt your brain & probably use the 25p on electricity !!

20,000 in your 'spare time' at 4 hours per night........that would take for ever. Say for example one bag in a production line, bearing in mind you have to cut, weed, apply and line up then heat press takes approx 5 minutes from start to finish you will be lucky to produce 50 a night.............. it will take around 400 nights!!!!!!. As far as charging goes for something that big I wouldn't go below 60p per bag (assuming it is an easy cut/weed design)......although to be honest an order for 20,000 of anything would freak me out........
