Hi all.

I have been into sublimation for some years, but always used an Epson printer (different models over the years), with either a ciss or refillable cartridges! With Sawgrass ink from BMS.

I am looking at going over to using a Rocoh printer? maybe a GXe7700? as I can see you can buy refillables for it?

So my question?? Can I use the same inks I have for the Epsons in it?

I've not heard of anyone trying it to say for certain either way. Ricoh call their inks "gel-inks." Whether this is just marketing, or their inks do actually have a more gel like consistency, I don't know, but it could mean that it isn't a good idea to try, unless you have a warranty on a Ricoh which will cover breakdown for any reason.

If you have a stock of sublimation inks, then there are A3 Epsons and Brothers which will work with your inks.

I'd be cautious about trying other ink. Ricoh won't warranty the printer if you put Sublimation ink in it which then really only leaves Sawgrass and I doubt Sawgrass would warranty the printer if you trialled other inks in it and knackered it. A GXe7700 is too expensive to experiment with!

If I had the spare cash I'd buy a cheap Ricoh and give it a go, as I'd love to know if it would work or not.

SubliJet-R is a high-yield gel sublimation ink for Ricoh inkjet printers. SubliJet-R is a unique high viscosity gel sublimation ink formulated specifically for the Ricohprint head.
So it is not possible........

yes, but is the description of the Sublijet-R ink just marketing, and any old sublimation ink will work in the Ricoh's?
I have seen other manufacturers claim to have sublimation inks suitable for the Ricoh, so whether they have produced something specifically for Ricoh's printers or know that their normal sublimation inks work OK in them...
