Hi everybody
got some mugs from a differant supplier this weekend and can i hell get a decent print on them. Supposed to be grade a dishwasher safe mugs.
Problem i am having is heating element marks on the mugs and always in the same place. Turn mug upside down and the mark is still in same place which tells me its the mugs.
I have changed temp and times up and down incresed and decreased pressure and still same outcome.
Explained this to supplier with supporting pics and they have cone back with the following.
If the mark is in the same place no matter where you position the mug it must be your heating blanket. Lol
now call me stupid but how can that be possible if the priblem is in the same place on the mug even pressed upsaide down unless the blanket is magic and also turns upside down without me seeing.

Sounds like the supplier misunderstood your saying the mark is 'always in the same place'.....and didn't look at your photos properly. It certainly read like it is the coating on the mugs. Can you post pics up here so we can be better informed to comment.

@meldean I think you might be back buying from BMS soon
Like Paul said (if the mug surface is uneven) then a silicon sheet may even out the pressure on the mug.
This may be a silly question but are you sure the mark is not from the printer (say a band) and not the press? In that case nothing you do with the press will change the mark will it?

Thanks for the replies. Its definately the heater element because on some of the mugs its not just one spot its actually all iver the mug and you can see it coil round.
I have pressed a mug from bms and furst time bang on print.
I have been in touch with supplier and they have asked me to do a mug out of another box and see if they are the same and they are going to take it from there. Dont really want to start adding silicone sheets and messing around to get a decent print in the equation ti be honest. Lol
specially when i can just go back to bms.
live and lean i guess. Will post some pics up anyway.

well i would think that would however i have adjusted the pressure up and it does not make a differance.
Paul said in early post to get a silicone sheet to even out the pressure and i said not going down that route...lol
I might try it though as im still on a learning curve myself and feel i need to explore all remedies just so that in future i know how do deal with problems better.
Can i assume that these are the sheets and also what kind of temp and time adjustment do i need to make.

at the moment i use 185c and 220 seconds which works perfectly as i compensates for the drop in temp when you first put the cold mug in the press.

I've had this exact problem and a new blanket sorted it for me.
