Hey guys,

never been very good when things come to use networks, I am having a dilemma, got a HP Designjet 1050c wide format printer I am having trouble communicating with the printer I will list what I have tried..

Network cable from printer straight into the Laptop using a crossover cable and patch cable
Network cable to my router (printer got a IP Address) can connect through its IP address to see it on my screen but can not send any file to the printer either using a wireless connection to the router, a crossover cable to the router & a patch cable to the router..

I have download all neccesary drivers and tried 3 different operating systems XP, Vista & windows 7

every driver I have tried none of them actually detect the printer the only way I can get my pc to detect the printer is by actually physically typing in the IP address which my printer is located on and then the drivers install and I get a ready icon in the printers in the control panel.

Anybody see something obvious that I am clearly doing wrong lol cause I am stuck

If you are using a router you use a straight cable, not a cross over, which I think is only for direct connections, - I think !

Yup, only use x-over cables if plugging straight from computer to a device. Check that all your cables are not x-over ones if using a router.

Once you have network up and running properly, and the printer gets a valid IP address, and you can log into that on your computer, get the drivers loaded, and see the ready status - can you print a test page from there too?
