Hello all, i am fairly new to all this and i have read other posts on this excellent forum regarding this problem to which i have tried the advice given but i am still having problems when pressing on metal phone inserts.
I am using cases supplied from a well known welsh supplier, a ricoh 7700 printer with sublijet inks onto true pix paper.
I have tried pressing at 180 for 60 seconds and also tried at 190 for 50 seconds as mentioned in other posts but the outcome seems to be the same, the colours are not true, they seem faded and blacks are greyish.
I am pressing face down with image underneath and i have taken the film off. This is really doing my head in!! Everything else i press is fine. Has anyone got any suggestions i am getting depressed! (no pun intended)

I would suggest a metal from another supplier. You may find the issue is to do with the metal inserts.

I have never pressed face down as I think you are.

I always press as follows:

HOT PART OF HEAT PRESS
DYE SUB PAPER
DYE SUB ITEM (in this case the metal)
BASE OF HEAT PRESS

Might be worth a go as it may be that the metal is not getting hot enough your way.

Have been practising with some i phone 4 metal inserts that i have and they have come out fine so it must be an issue with the i phone 5 inserts i have. Will order new ones from other supplier.

regarding pressing metal, we found pressing in the reverse order (Sub image on the bottom metal facing etc...) gives a better finish. Its as though the sub coating softens slightly when pressed normally and it acquires some marks. I advise our customers to press Sub-metal using the print on the base method and not just for the phone cases :)
