OK. I used to do a lot of sublimation printing, but have never used 'supported' systems, instead sourcing my own printers, feed systems and inks. My Epson B1100 printer was thoroughly cleaned and stored away over two years ago, so should still be ok?? I also have an Epson D92 was was cleaned and stored about three years ago, although as I remember it was quite a loud printer when in use.

In practical terms I am looking to replace the D92 with two more modern A4 printers. One to use and one for back up, especially if I need to have a custom profile made at some stage. I am predominantly looking at Epson XP and Epson SX---W models. I am unfamiliar with either of these ranges so would welcome any input as to which range is the better model for subli. I would also give consideration to Brother printers, but know absolute zilch about them, as to whether they are better than the Epsons or absolute crud?

As the B1100 A3 printer is now obselete, I am giving thought as to whether to use it again, as I know many users on here have had major problems with that particular model and Epson dumped it with what seemed considerable haste.

I buy my own ink in bulk and refill, so not interested in expensive Ricoh cartridges, or being tied to any 'supported' systems.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks....

Update: Having tried the B1100 on Friday I discovered the heads were completely solid on it and despite copious amounts of isopropyl alcohol soaking the heads for the last couple of weeks and cartridges filled with cleaning fluid, apart from a tiny smear of Cyan there was simply no saving it. Having dumped it in the neighbours half empty skip, another member on here expressed interest in it, by which time the skip had unfortunately departed.

I have more or less convinced myself to ditch the Epson brand in favour of the Brother printers now, as fitting the big cartridges that can be refilled without removing from the printer is a massive plus point. Argos, Curry's, PCWorld and others are currently selling an A3 sized Brother for less than £90, but the refillable cartridges are difficult to obtain at the moment with the major suppliers, so it a non starter at the moment for sublimation. :frown:
