Re: To CPL or not to CPL

Hi

Being a newby and still looking for equipment I wondered what the feelings are about CPL as a supplier. They seem to cover a multitude of different avenues to take and their prices appear reasonable too but what is their service like, do they fullfill what they promise.

Whilst browsing the other day I noticed a news site which was reporting that CPL was a relatively new company only being formed, I believe it was, in Febuary this year. This was after the new owner had bought a similar company which was in administration. CPL say they have been trading some 27 years which sounds a bit like a porky to me:confused:.

I would be very interested in any comments anyone may have. Thanks good buds:smile:.

Geoff

Yes thats correct Justin, I can't remember what they were called before but it was a similar company. I also understand that the new owner has kept the old management on.

if it is Creative Printers, although I have never personally dealt with them I have found the following info

They invite you to visit their premises, most scam websites would not even publish a postal address if they did not want you snooping or they were up to something.

Their T&C's state Creative Printers of London - This does not exist as a limited company according to Companies House Web Check. This does not mean much but if you wanted to have a bit more security you would need their actual company name and not the trading name

WWW.PRINT1.CO.UK (another of their sites) was registered in 2008. This seems to be the main website address from which everything stems (i.e. the email address etc got to this domain)

In summary I probably would deal with them but may pay them a visit first time round

Actually, as purple has had a bad experience with them then I would probably shop elsewhere. Nothing they sell is only available through them so if a trusted member on here has had a problem then that is good enough for me to steer clear.

their web site seems ok, I like them posting proper address, but prices are high, so unless they are round the corner and convenient to pop in and collect, why use them over one of the recommended suppliers of this forum ?

Sorry was a bit of a short answer last night ill expand a bit
CPL do have a fair few websites selling various items so they are a genuine company .
My issue with them was as follows i bought a ribbon printer from them which turned up on time and well packed at that time they sold very little in the way of foils etc so i had to source my consumables elsewhere.
After a period of time i was experiancing a few issue with the printer although it must be pointed out this was after a year so the was no warranty.
I contacted CPL for advice only obviously being out of warranty i certainly did not expect refunds etc but felt it wasnt unreasonable to ask advice.
At first they started to be quite helpful until i mentioned i had bought the foils from another source (as i said at the time they didnt sell them ) The guy i was speaking to at that point said as you have bout the foils from another firm i can no longer talk to you.
Stunned i said "im not after a refund just advice" he said "sorry cant talk to you" i said "so your dropping me like a hot brick" he answered "basically yes"
this i felt was disgraceful customer service especially since they didnt supply the foils at that time and when they did start it was on a completely differnt web site (as you point out they have many) after speaking with others who have dealt with CPL most say the same regarding their customer service .
there ya go full story make your own mind up :)
