Hi my epson s22 decided to die on me a couple of months back as the ciss broke, i got some refillable cartridges but printer only recognizes 2 of thee cartridges and its almost impossible to get the air out of them so i have decided to move on to another printer. The things i have printed before were mainly mugs and photo panels etc as i do transfer printing and vinyl for my t shirts. However i am torn between what printer to get i'm currently looking at the ricoh sg3110dn printer as ive heard alot of good things however its a4 which means some of the larger photo panels are out of the question and ink costs are alot more than i would have paid for the s22...

Anyone used the wf 7015 for sublimation? I know everyone loves ricoh but how many prints would you say youve got out of your 3110dn on you first cartridges as i hear they use a large percentage for filling lines on first setup?

I use the A3 version, 7100. First fill isn't too bad but yes, the lines do hold a large amount of ink so you don't see the benefit until the second set.

Sadly I can't afford the a3 which is why I have to resort to Epson as the a3 alternative If I do get it I hope its better than the s22

If you're looking for something better than the S22 then you really don't have far to look :) If you want to go A3 then consider the Epson 1500. This still has a CIS so if you want reliability then look no further than the A4 Ricoh SG3110. If you want to stay with Epson then the WP4015 is a cartridge based system but ink costs are higher than the SG3110

I can get a wf 7015 for 150 or so and some refillable carts for 30 where can I get ink in small quantities?

I presume you're going down the non-supported route, much as you did with the S22 which caused you problems. If you're going down the WF7015 route then you may be spending out money on further problems. The WF7015 is the replacement to the B1100 and some members may provide their own commentary on that printer. The non-supported route is fine if you are happy to fault find and test out the printer but spending £200 +vat on 4 bottles of ink plus the cost of the printer plus refillable cartridges, then a bespoke colour profile and no guarantee or backup in case of problems sounds a like a false economy to me, but each to their own. Most suppliers on here will supply sublimation inks in 125ml bottles, but in fairness if we know you are going to be using the WF7015 we'd prefer not supply the inks for use in that printer.

My suggestion is, of course feel free to ignore it, go down the supported route for A4 / A3 printing. If an alternative really was more viable then everybody would be doing it.
If however you just love the challenge then that is a whole new ball game.

thats why i was thinking of the ricoh route as my budget is around £500 im thinking i should maybe just go the ricoh route then and stick with a4 just felt that it was limiting as one of the things i want to print are wedding and family photos etc

How many times will you really need to print A3? If the answer is very few than the A4 system would probably suffice. If you need to be printing A3 regularly then the Ricoh 7100 is by far the best choice but I appreciate the budget issue.....then again, if you're printing that many sheets business should be good enough!

the epson 1500 (A3) bundle is around £600 from BMS, and I'd imagine a similar price from many of the other suppliers. Saying that I've no experience with this particular model, so maybe some others on here might be able to say more. It's actually a model I'm currently looking at upgrading to from my 4015dn, as like you, A3 would be handy at times, so this thread might be of interest to me  It's supported by Sawgrass though as far as I know, which believe me from past experience is handy to have!
