So I have finally got round to creating a website for an idea a mate of mine and I have had. As it is now live I would really like your input on what you think is good and more importantly what is bad.
A couple of things to note
The site is very much aimed at the American market.
The "create your own" uses WebGL. Depending on your processor etc or if you are using a tablet/phone you should see a real difference in the 3D rendering. I think it is one of the first sites worldwide to have WebGL rendering on this sort of item.
www.magicyourband.com
If there are any members in foreign countries reading this, it would be good to know what currency is displayed.

I like it, looks good, I think the colours/style suit the intended demographic. Designer etc. seems to work fine.

Nosey question, which you might not want to answer, you could pm me the answer - was it expensive?

How can you measure success LOL!!!!
Considering the potential for the site No, but that is because of the people we are currently talking to and the projected sales for the Disney related merchandise. If we are talking about a "standard" personalisation site for something like phone cases I would say yes it is quite expensive and from memory I think we need to sell 25 phone covers per month to break even on the monthly subscription (you can work it out from there I would think).
In terms of set up costs, apart from a lot of time I think it was around £1200

Hum, yes that is quite a lot. Thanks for letting me know.
I am getting one built, but it is not as much as that, about £400.
I hope it brings in the orders for you.

Could I ask who you are using for your website as I am getting quotes double that and there are supposed to be mates rates.
