Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but i guess the admins will move it ;)

I would like to know if sub place mats and coaster or or can be made from melamine? with cork backing or such? OR are they all made from hardwood with a coating?

I have read that the hardwood place mats are a bugger to heatpress due to the curving, so i wondered if a cork base would stop this from happening?

Any info, and where to purchases would be most helpful.

Thx

You need to dip your toe in and try, all products can be successful but it depends on your business. If there was a correct answer everyone would be doing it. You need to go with what suits you.

If you dampen the back prior to pressing it helps prevent curling :)

A few points
The suppliers tell you what the place mats are made from online.
Melamine is a very specific material.
You really need to order a few to see what things are like. No amount of questions beats having something in your hand.
I haven't had any place mats curl for many months then it was so slight as to be of no concern, and I just press them straight out of the box.

Not being grumpy just short on time.

In short buy a few (they aren't expensive), print them and go from there.
