FAO Dreamglass - Listen buddy, I know you are probably well educated as I can see the big words, elaborate explanations and disections of many posts in the replies that you have made to me and others on the forum, but I have to say (because I can express the way I feel, as you do - and it's not meant to upset or cause argument in any way) that I think that your responses turn from being constructive to very argumentative at times!

I have followed this thread in great detail as I am very curious (and from the views I know others have) and I have had to hold back in posting because I feel as though you will be on a crusade to put your point accross.

I'm not trying to start and argument - but I just wish that you would try and look at the prospective from 'everyones' point of view and not just your own!

I still struggle to see what all this has to do with anyone OTHER than the rights holders. Do you think nobody at these multi million enterprises is capable of using Google? Do you folks think these big corporations and businesses have never heard of eBay? In fact, do you think the people at eBay should perhaps take more responsibility for what appears on their sites?

The copyright holders are certainly not deaf, dumb and blind. I'm sure that if they want to chase infringers, they are more than capable on doing that on their own initiative, without someone 'tugging at their sleeves'.
Don't think it as simple as that. For example, I believe there is a poster on here who sells the moto gp (motorbike?) licensed merchandise with riders such as the Doctor. If he has paid for the licence and the OP hasn't then it is likely the the OP can undercut due to less costs. Buying a licence to correctly sell means you are going to have to try and make the most of it and when someone comes along and does this and quite likely targetting a similar customer. I couldn't blame any real licence holder to report them and cause the trouble required to get rid of them.

I agree with the above statement I knew as soon as I replied to any of the post that dreamglass would reply aggressively to us, to be honest this is a forum for help, opinions and to learn our trade, its alright to be sanctimonious but really a nunnery is the right place to be, but this in not a nunnery its a forum where all opinions count, if I see you posting in future threads i won't posting on them don't need the lectures, this is forum not a school where we need to be told what to do and in that tone.

what i dont understand is all the "royal mail issues" postage at £2.99 should be enough to send a mug out and pay the 75p to have it signed for ?? this normally ensures good delivery from Royal Mail.

Maybe the word "unique" equates to no licence required :) :) :)

You asked a question on post number 41 of this thread in direct response to one of my postings, to which I have replied. You yourself have been extremely offensive to the thread starter within your postings and I'm sure that he doesn't need the lectures either.

People with different perspectives are free to make comments and have their own viewpoints, but 'telling tales' on other folks ventures is more akin to behaviour is a school playground rather than adults running their own business ventures. Some of the folks really need to get a life and keep their noses out of other people's business. If they can't accept that there will always be other businesses doing things they don't like, then perhaps they are not suited to the world of commercial enterprise.

This thread descended from someone asking how to get a business outside of eBay, to the 'screaming banshees' on about licenses and copyright infringement (again). Has it helped him to find new directions? Probably not.

To the original thread starter; you run your business the way you want to bud. I would suggest you find less provacative designs though, and be appreciative of the fact that other sales avenues will be unlikely to have the same level of foot traffic that eBay does. Good luck to you for the future.

The rights owners have the responsibility of protecting their own copyright and trademarks. Not some jealous trader in a related industry showing moral indignation. Those traders that choose to cross over the line make their own decisions and face the consequences of their actions.

People on here saying report this and report that, is all well and good till you cross the wrong people and also face the consequences of THEIR actions.

On a similar theme if I got mowed down by a motorist doing 70mph in a 30mph zone should I blame the police for not poilicing the roads properly instead of the idiot driving the car. ?

As for people concentrating on their own business and ignoring the competition I find that a strange one. Surely everybody in business checks out the competition and comments don't they. Soemhow I can't imagine Richard Branson ignoring BA :)

An appreciation of the difference between non criminal (civil) offences and clearly defined criminal law would be a good starting point. Copyright and trademark law are dealt with by civil courts for what reason do you think?
