Adkins Beta Maxi pressure?
Re: Adkins Beta Maxi pressure?
Hi everyone
i have just received delivery of a Adkins Beta Maxi 15x20. It is a beast compared to my Stahls Hotronix auto clam.
Still not sure where it's permanent home is going to be yet. I can see another re organization happening. Not happening today as I have come down with a bug:frown:
Anyways the the question I have, (it might seem a daft one) for the Adkins Beta Maxi owners how many turns of the pressure dial to you give to reach maximum pressure. Or is there an easy way to determine heavy pressure.
thanks in advance for your replies.
Cheers
Kath

Re: Adkins Beta Maxi pressure?
ArferMo, the Maxi does not have a gauge.
Its very much a trial and error system with the Maxi, if you are pressing TMT WOW (which requires very heavy pressure) then you want to set it as tight as you can while still managing to pull the lever down. It is a bit of guesswork, but don't panic, you will get used to it very quickly.
They are a seriously good press and a major work horse. Mine current one gets a hammering of about 500+ presses a week and it has never missed a beat.

Thanks for replying Aftermo
Thanks also for replying Socialgiraffe. I have turned it till it has very light pressure but did not want to go to far with heavy pressure Incase I caused any damage. I am a worrier .....LOL...but will do as you suggest. Thanks for your advice much appreciated.

Re: Adkins Beta Maxi pressure?
just turn it till it wont go any further, then try to get the handle down and lock, if impossible, then unscrew a bit until you can.
will vary according to garment thickness
CARE - if really high pressure, can be difficult to release, just press down as you pull out the release knob or you may get a smack under the chin that will make you spin!
imho indestructible! -
