Hi
Anyone have any recommendations on which Oki A3 printer is good for laser transfers or should they all work ok? I know TMT try to make you buy a printer from them but do they just tweak the settings? can I just do this myself as I was thinking of getting a second hand one to play around with as I thought I wanted the BN-20 but if I have A3 size designs or even small detailed designs then I'm going to be spending ages weeding and I need to get orders done quickly. This was one of the reasons for starting with sublimation as you literally print and press and I didn't like the background that gets left behind with laser transfers and self weeding papers like wow are really expensive and I think I will struggle to get this to work with my George Knight press as the temp fluctuates. But I want to print on coloured items not just clothing so designs could be A4 or smaller and each one is different, they are full colour designs so normal vinyl isn't really an option.
Thanks for any advice you can give me

my understanding is that there are no ideal A3 laser printers at present, - because they all run too fast, and hence the fuser unit cools down too much to perfectly fuse the last parts of the sheet to go through. remember you will be running it on the thickest setting to slow it down as much as possible already, but modern printers are designed to be as compact and fast as possible, and laser toner transfere needs as much heat as possible, ideally from slow massive machines that can retain enough heat for successful fusing along the full length of the sheet......
An older machine may well be better than a new one, - we still use xerox dc12 - absolutely brilliant and 20 years old, - but getting service is v diff!

Thanks for replying, I think i'm still swaying towards the bn-20 but for A3 designs i don't want to be spending hours weeding them. One company suggested getting the designs screen printed and then we can add the names to them afterwards as we do personalised items. Not sure what sort of quantity I would need to order though or how long the transfers can be kept for and the time and temps will be different so not sure how that would work putting vinyl on afterwards?
