Ricoh sg 3110dn
Re: Ricoh sg 3110dn
Hi
Just a quickie, received my new ricoh printer with sub r inks and mugs from isub supples, the temperature guidlines from isub supplies regarding the sublimation paper for ceramics (mugs) are 200c for 5 minutes, I though it would only be around 3 or 180 secs at 200c? Is it wise to cook a mug for 5 minutes or is it just the type of mug it is (aaa graded).
Paul

5 mins does seem a bit long, what press have you got? I have Europa/Jarmin mug press and do my mugs at 180 for 180 secs.
Many thanks

Re: Ricoh sg 3110dn
Pixmax 5 in 1, they suggest 120 secs at at 310 f for a fast press and slow press at 330f.
Isub supplies say 5 minutes at 200
I went between both so set it at 4 minutes at 200, wondering whether to up the temp to 310 for 2 minutes to see if that helps?
Thanks

Re: Ricoh sg 3110dn
I think I may have messed up, I set the press at 200f, not 200c (392f), i may up the temp on the press to 3 minutes using the same paper but up the pressure slightly to get a better image?
It's my first time pressing mugs, never tried it before, is it better to wrap the mug and transfer in a sheet of paper during sublimation?

Either the duration of sublimation has been too long or you have used the wrong side of the paper. I am guessing wrong side which is easy to do if no watermark on back. For us then we use 170c and 140s for most mugs or if edge to edge bright colours then 180c and 180s. May help. Olly
Re: Ricoh sg 3110dn
The back of the paper is printed with a water mark so correct side was used on the mug, temp I got wrong, i will up this on the next test which will be done tonight to see if i get a better result!

Hi Paul 44
I subliamte on mugs using the same Sublijet R inks and a Ricoh SG 7100DN.
My advice would be to heat at 190 - 200 degress for 3 minutes (180 seconds). I have never heated a mug for 5 minutes but I use these setiings when heating mugs.
If this does not help you, maybe there is an issue with the mugs you have purchased.

Another one here for 180C for 180seconds using both a pixmax and a freesub double mug press .
