pneumatic mug press

We've bought one of these to trial. I really want to find something that will give us full coverage mugs painlessly.

We have pre-heated bases but they give us soft top corners. Constantly.

I do really like these mug presses for text / white background jobs.

I've heard they don't press well top to bottom but hopefully you can confirm differently! Contacted one of the suppliers to discuss testing and reviewing but they ignored the request.

Ours is back in its box in the warehouse, tried to get it working good enough for a day and gave up. Was too busy to organise sending it back - probably should get that done though, as it's either faulty or not fit for purpose.

Ours works great for white background designs.

I pre-heated the base of the mug for 30 seconds before applying a full coverage design. The bottom came out perfectly but the top corners were still soft. I tried lots of different temperatures, right up to 190C for 220 seconds. The corner was still soft and there was browning on the front of the mug. I couldn't produce anything salable with a full coverage design.

Is that where I am going wrong - I should be pre-heating before?

We preheated the whole mug in an oven for 20 mins, and then pressed in the press for another 20 minutes at the full temp and it STILL couldn't print a full bleed mug successfully, so useless for us, as all our designs are full bleed, and bright, deep and saturated colours - with this press the colours were all washed out.

To preheat the base you just put the bottom inch of the mug in the press for about 30 seconds, then take it out and apply your transfer.

The base is thicker so takes longer to heat up. This just gives it a head start so it should be the same temperature as the rest of the mug by the time it's fully heated.
