You could try a head soak, lint free cloth over the cap tops soaked in cleaning fluid and lower the heads so they sit on the cloth, leave for an hour or two and do a test print, the drop out's look all over the place so with a bit of luck it just needs a good clean! And as said already it look's like the heads are rubbing the vinyl in the first print, I would hold the corners of the vinyl with a bit of tension as it dose another test print just to make sure and rule that out...

Thank you scotty I will try that, getting to the point that I am willing to try anything to try and sort it out.

Could also be an alignment issue. Is it sat flat not twisted at all and had no knocks whilst being moved. I presume the vacuum is fine and holding the media down, are the silver media guides fitted and also holding the media down.

I did notice this afternoon that the right hand silver media guide looks very slightly raised and the media seems to sit with a slight tilt not sure why.

get the engineer in and they will remove those F***** useless thing out! Even they say its pointless to have those guides in such a small machine. My enginer said it can swap it for new one but it will happen to me again....

Hiya Paul,

As I got it second hand I bet it would cost a bomb to get an engineer out for it?

what did you do to it Paul, I know some hate them and some love them, they do help to hold the media down out of the way of the printhead

i did nothing. it sadly start sticking out. so danger to heads. Roll curl to the bottom so head should be safe without them any way.
If your bn20 is still under warranty those useless things ARE covered. just give them a call and they will sort it out. As I said, once they slightly sticking up then its a danger to print head.

They can be carefully teased straight again if you manage to bend them but like I say some swear by them and others swear at them.

Roland Engineer costs when out of warranty last time I asked was £325 for the first hour + Parts £125 for every hour after + Parts with a guaranteed 10 working day response time plus VAT

Problem sorted there was no clear gap between the media and the print head in the area the marks were being made. Just a little push back down and its fine now, thank you everyone for your help and advice
