9600 issues
Re: 9600 issues
Hi Iain
Sounds like your having a mare, I've still got the Canon up for sale if you do get rid of the Epson let me know as the price will be right...
Good luck
John

Re: 9600 issues
I have an update on my 9600. There is now some cyan coming through after several pwr cleans. Each cleans seems to clean a bit more. I am wondering whether to get some cheap inks to keep going with the power cleans.
A photo will follow.

Re: 9600 issues
Damper has to be favourite, if there's a slight leak you won't get a good nozzle check. On my 4880 DTG dampers are a consumable!
Neoflex Direct to Garment Printer, Brother BAS-463 3 Head Embroidery Machine, Gerber Edge FX & 1, Gerber GS15Plus Plotter, Ricoh GX-7000 GelsPrinter, Adkins BETA Major Pneumatic Press, Graphtec CE5000-60 & Craft Robo, HTP616 Twinhead Mug Press & 2 Halogen Ovens.
Re: 9600 issues
Have you tried using a syringe to reprime the cartridge? (I've had to do this with sealed Epson carts)
Have you tried SSC cleaning mode in the service menu?
Don't use cheap ink to get it going, as there are chemical agents in the ink apart from the colours which help keep ink flowing well etc, cheap inks won't have as good additives, or may not have them at all.
Can you post a photo of the row of dampers - it can sometimes be easy to spot when one has failed

Re: 9600 issues
I have not replaced the damper but have inserted a Syringe into the end and pulled the ink through to the damper. Would that still happen if the damper was faulty.

Re: 9600 issues
I wouldn't MIX ink there are some very very good no epson inks out there I sell two levels of ink as well as epsons but neither of them are chinese which i have had major issues with. A cheaper ink may not be chemically compatible with the ink your use now so it could even congeal in the head and render your machine useless. Our inks are chemically compatible with OEM epson inks but theyre not as cheap as chinese.
As Pisquee said some inks dont have the cleaning agents or correctly ground pigments (or even any pigments), as well as this there are chemicles for bonding and release agents as well as agents for UV protection and many others go chinese and 8 times out of 10 you get garbage.

All these things are new to me so if I sound a bit of a numptie please forgive me.
I will google about reprime the cart with syringe.
I have done 1 SSC but am worried about running out of ink.

Here are the two cyan dampers.
I am going to add that this forum is wonderful and I really appreciate all the help you guys and girls give me.
I promise that before I ask these questions I do use the search bar and Google.
My problem is I have always learnt things by copying someone else and trying to follow a video on YouTube stopping and starting drives me mad.
