Adkins EZ-Multi Mug

Has anyone used this press?
It looks similar to the generic ones offered by others.
Have looked on all the suppliers sites but cannot find anyone selling these.

I am looking at buying a decent quality mug press. Currently have a cheap oriental one that is very poor quality and has no support.
This was bought a few years back to do TMT / Oki laser prints. These were not very good so eventually dumped the Oki printer and gave up on doing any mugs.
I'm prepared to spend whatever it takes to get a good quality press that can consistently produce mugs to sell.

Any advice or feedback will be appreciated.

I've never used that particular press but do have some of the Adkins Studio presses which have always performed very well. I agree it appears to look like the typical Chinese presses, perhaps slightly better quality. I see they also do an EZ 5 mug press. Multiple presses we've never had much luck with so that's of interest. Not sure of anyone in the UK that stocks them though? I don't see either on Xpres site or Coralgraph. The latter have Adkins at exceptional prices and you get 10% off as a premium member on top of this! I can only guarantee that offer until 30th June though.

You'll find plenty of threads recommending different presses but imo if you have the budget you'll struggle to beat the Adkins machines.

I agree with Justin. We use Adkins studio mug presses and cannot fault.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking at the Studio Multi Mug Press to cover the options or capability for all mugs.

It is the same press. It just comes with more elements but in reality you can form a good business model just sticking with a set size of element (10/11oz) and save yourself a couple of hundred pounds. If later on you get demand for another size (e.g. latte or 8oz) then you can buy just the elements you need.

Thanks for the info. Decided on the Adkins, now just to decide if the single, multi or twin.
The multi seems to have more options for elements.
Do the additional elements, eg the conical / latte, also work in the single and twin?
The twin is not much more, only £162 more than the single if you take into account the £78 for the extra element included.

Thanks. Just done some calcs and assuming the Adkins will last twice the life of an alternate brand (not the cheapest) when printing 10000 mugs
with the element life at 1000 = Adkins £0.11 to 0.13 per mug, and alternate brand at £0.12 per mug
Even at 5000 mugs and 500 mug element life the Adkins works out at £0.22 to 0.26 per mug, and the alternate at £0.24

So initial cost is considerably higher but the life time cost is about the same.

Not really interested in buying used - too many unknown variables about the machine.

Decided to purchase the Adkins Multi Mug Press, bought from Xpres.
I was trying to buy from Coralgraph as Henry was very helpful. However, when trying to place the order and phoning them there office was closed.
Attempted to do an online purchase and the delivery was £41.20, and the extra heat elements could not be ordered online.
So Xpres was used as it was under £10 more and I could talk to them on the phone, although no DSF discount on equipment.

We bought a used Adkins studio mug press off ebay and are happy with it. But noticed that the handle wobbles but still closes fine but you can't get in and tighten this up. Changing the blanket also took some time so I'm glad I went with just the one size mug as I don't have the time to keep changing this over for each order. However our orders are all one offs so i guess if you had an order for say 100 latte mugs etc then it would be worth it. I liked the quality of the printing on the mugs Listawood displayed at printwear and promotion this year and they print full top to bottom in their press which looks like the cheap presses but comes with many attachments and was cheaper than Adkins I think.

Listawoods Genie press is getting excellent reviews. The mugs on their displays are printed in ovens, that's why the top, bottom and closeness to handle is so good.
