Problem printing photos on Ricoh sg2100 for sublimation
Re: Problem printing photos on Ricoh sg2100 for sublimation
Hi. I have a Ricoh Sg2100. Prints lovely drawings by children for sublimation onto mugs. Photos come out very strange. Skin colour is bright orange and streaks all over. Been given a profile to download by the company I purchased from but I don't use the selection of photo editing software that they give instructions for. My option is to buy coreldrawx7 etc at almost £200 or, they say, download photoshop cs2. I have pointed out that abode say I can,t do this as it is unsupported and my computer says it will take 17 hours to download so I am wary of doing it! I use Pixlr as my editing software. It would take about 3 months profit to pay for the software they say I need. I feel like I have wasted my money. I thought I would buy the printer, inks, heat press and mug press all from the same company and be up and running. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You'll see posts on here already discussing this model printer with different opinions, my own iscthat it is unsuitable for sublimation.
Yes, you will ideally need Corel or Adobe. I use X4 which is a lot cheaper and you can get CS2 legitimately although as you've been told it's no longer supported. You can subscribe to Corel and Adobe monthly so this might be an option to get you going.
It's too late to advice you to go to a preferred supplier and you may be lucky with your kit. We have a saying on here, buy cheap buy twice. So many members have set up cheaply having been promised the earth only to later realise that this business needs half decent kit to get the required results.

Re: Problem printing photos on Ricoh sg2100 for sublimation
Hi. I ended up contacting the company I purchased from. They said I needed a new colour profile. They sent me paper I had to print a test out on and post it back then they emailed me a stream of instructions to follow, ending in the fact I needed one of four specified photo shop type packages!! Nothing was mentioned about this when I bought the printer. My choice was to spend £200 on a photo shop type package. They said I could download cs2 for free ( but failed to mention this is no longer "supported") and in any event my pc simply wouldn't download it. I have given it up as a bad job. I only printed drawn pictures and hand prints etc for a while but am now working with a sawgrass printer which comes with it's own software and is so simple. I am not remotely interested in computers etc and the thought of having to load and sort out colour profiles on a brand new machine - and to be told that's what is always necessary - was a load of rubbish to me! I definitely did not get what I was promised with the Ricoh.

You say you are now using a sawgrass printer. This is just a rebranded Ricoh.
The problem you encountered was that the 2100 was never meant for sublimation. The Sawgrass printer is a 3110 Ricoh.

I use one, works fine. I'm pretty certain its the same hardware. Just waiting on my 3110 to come back to compare.
